Dog friendly pick your own pumpkins
Wellies are packed, bag full of treats in the boot and enough water proofs for wild water rapids are on! That must mean it's Autumn in England and what's most festive than throwing dead leaves around? Well picking your own pumpkins with friends of course, (if it's good enough for the Kardashians then it's good enough for Percy and Simba)
We headed to Bourne Valley Pick Your Own in Andover - a beautiful, secluded and quiet area perfect for a peaceful afternoon. The vision was us skipping down the field of pumpkins and posing for a few photos of Percy looking super cute by his favourite one. Of course Percy had other plans; percy is crazy, prey driven and loves a run in an open field - flushing phesants was far more intetesting than pumpkin picking. At this point I would like to remind all naive owners to keep their dog on the lead while pumpkining
After a quick detour walk and once Percy had finished exploring the neighbouring fields for what I can only imagine more pumpkins? We then began to find our perfect pumpkin! …. and I don't mean the dogs despite being dressed up as pumpkins.
Pumpkins are confusing to dogs especially collies as they have all the characteristics of a football, I don't think anymore should be said about that experience.
With a few sneaky bribes including the incredibly yummy Paté we took a few snaps of the boys and of course Simba gave them all a little lick test to help reassure Percy there wasn’t a bunnie or pheasant hiding beneath!
Simba kindly left his own 'parcel' in the field for Mum to clean up, so another reminder … bring poop bags.
We made our way back down the field with pumpkins bigger than their heads! Had a quick coffee (they have wonderful facilities which any tired dog mum needs!)
If for any strange reason you bring a small human instead of a dog pumpkin picking there is a play park!
Without further ado, let me tell you all the dog friendly pumpkin patches we've found so you can go on an autumnal adventure with your friends!
Please note all patches require dogs to stay on leads and under control at all times.
