No. Fifty Cheyne - Restaurant, Chelsea

Yet again, Puggy and Pops have been spoiled rotten and were asked to visit the effortlessly chic No. Fifty Cheyne in the heart of Old Chelsea on the Thames.

We were invited along for lunch and we were certainly not disappointed.

Greeted by the most lovely staff we have ever come across. Professional, approachable and genuinely very warm. We were showed to our table where they had some treats, a cosy bed, a water bowl and even a toy set out for Puggy and Pops to relax, while us humans got to indulge.

The main dining room on the ground floor is quintessentially British, with floral hangings over the bar, luxurious draped curtains and mega comfy seats and cushions. So instagrammable it hurts! Everything was immaculate and well thought through, creating a cosy, intimate space that made us feel a million dollars. We must also mention the gorgeous loo’s! So cute I had to sneak Pops in for a cheeky photo!

Wine is their thing here at no. fifty Cheyne, but sadly not ours. Although the list was extensive and the waiter was happy to talk us through it, we decided to stick with what we knew and ordered mocktails for the driver, and an Aperol spritz for the co-pilot whilst we perused both the set lunch and the a la carte menus. We actually ordered some bits and bobs from each menu as it all looked so delicious we couldn’t decide. Nothing was too much trouble and we sat in complete bliss whilst we watched the chef prepare our meals on the open grill in the centre of the dining room.

We indulged in a lunchtime sirloin steak, with all the trimmings (British sourced, naturally), tender stem broccoli, fries, crushed potatoes and every sauce on the menu including bone marrow, peppercorn and bernaise. All equally moorish and cooked to perfection. Of course, there are vegan and veggie options available, but we had a meaty itch that needed to be scratched #noregrets

The waiter was attentive but not over bearing and he kindly offered an in house recommendation as an alternative to my fav, the Aperol spritz for my next drink. I trusted his opinion wholly and went for the Albert Spritz with Kamm and Sons, Champers and Bergamot liqueur, which was perfectly refreshing for a mid July afternoon, so good I wish I took the recipe to try to recreate at home!

After a little break to let our food go down, we ordered pudding. As it was the Wimbledon tennis tournament at the time, it seemed only right that one of us ordered the Gariguette strawberry Eton mess with sorbet and lemon cream, we also got a very indulgent Creme Brûlée and shared the lot. Hands down, the tastiest Eton mess I’ve had in my life, so good I’m still dreaming of it a week later… If only they did a home delivery service!

After all this loveliness, we sadly had to leave, but not before checking out the upstairs ‘ruby-red’ cocktail bar and the drawing room, with picturesque views over looking the river and Cheyne Gardens, it seemed like a dreamy place to waste whole afternoons and we could have easily stuck around all day long.

Every staff member we came into contact with greeted us and our dogs with such genuine warmth and we were assured dogs are welcome always, in all areas of the venue, which we absolutely love. We believe we found a hidden gem here in Fifty Cheyne and would recommend it to anybody, with or without doggos! If the lunch was this good, we could only imagine how amazing the afternoon tea and dinner service will be, and trust me, we will be back very soon!

Top tips - mention you are bringing a four legged friend with your at the time of booking and they will ensure that your doggo gets the same superstar treatment as Puggy and Pops!

On top of lunch, afternoon tea and din dins, they also offer a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Word on the street is that it’s pretty spectacular.
