One of our favourite spots in East London. A stones throw away from our home, but even if it was the other side of the city, we would always make the effort to give Crate a visit. Great beers, perfect pizzas, interesting venue. Whats not to love?

Its a 3 minute walks from hackney wick overground station, so no excuse for you lazy pooches out there! Dog friendly inside and out and the staff will always make you and your four legged friends feel ultra welcome.

Crate is an interesting place and can be enjoyed anytime. For us, the best time to go is on a quiet mid week lunch time, where you can grab a spot on one of the big tables in the sunshine and watch the world go by. It overlooks the canal and there is ALWAYS good music playing to make sure the vibe is spot on.

Crate is a large venue, its simple and chic, providing good quality products that speak for themselves. No frills, good vibes and always something tasty to sink your teeth into! They brew their beers onsite and take great pride in making sure you get the perfect pint. The bar team are always keen to chat about the beers and make recommendations tailored to you.

Now we couldn’t talk about Crate without mentioning THAT pizza. The food menu is small but smart, with something for everyone. Personally, we are obsessed with the ‘Middle Eastern Lamb’ Pizza, marinated lamb, fresh mint, pine nuts, mozeralla, pamersan and chilli flakes. So delicious you’ll be planning your next visit the second you leave. The pizzas are hand rolled and stone-baked, made to order with the freshest ingredients. There is nothing we love more than a cheeky Crate lunch break followed by a dog walk along the canal.

It gets busy during the evenings and we make sure that we leave before 10ish on the weekend nights, as the noise and crowds could be a little much for the pooches, but if you get a chance, you really must head down the Crate, with or without your doggo. You will not be disappointed.

Top tip - See if you can spot the Puggy Smalls sticker we hid in the venue! Also try to get involved in one of the tap room tastings starting at £15pp!

Snackies out of ten? Would beer again
