Short plays, great venue, Pizza, beers, dogs. Whats not to like!?
Looking for something different to do with your pooch? Bored of staying home or going to the same old dog friendly pub, well we may have just answered your prayers.
When @thundertheatre approached us and invited us along, we had no idea what to expect. All we really knew was it was a dog friendly theatre experience….
We arrived at Lost boys Pizza in Camden on a busting Thursday evening, an unexpected venue for theatre right? We were shown our way through the windy stair cases to a hidden courtyard garden out the back. We were allowed to sit wherever we liked so found ourself a cute little corner at the front and started to soak up the experience.
The courtyard is small and intimate, with a maximum capacity of 30 people and there’s a retractable roof incase the weather isn’t on your side! They made sure we were warm enough with outdoor heater and the place looked gorgeous with fairy lights and plants everywhere.
This place wasn’t just ‘dog friendly’, but ‘dogs encouraged’! Every staff member was excited to see pooches and gave them head rubs everytime they passed us! The dogs were all given a bowl of treats each and fresh water was offered to every audience member on four paws!
The evening consisted of 3 short plays (all 15 - 20 minutes long), with intervals in-between each one. The ticket price include one drink AND pizza in both intervals. The lost boys pizza is insane, They have black dough which contains activated charcoal, all prepared and cooked freshly to order with the most gorgeous toppings you can imagine!
The dogs were a pleasure to watch along with the plays, they seemed to thoroughly enjoy it and truly engaged with it. Pops and Puggy listened and watched intently and the audience roared with laughter when Puggy did a few barks of appreciation.
I won’t spoil the plays for you, but they were all tongue in cheek, funny, fast and clever. The whole cast and crew were fantastic and all hung around after for drinks and theatre chat.
Theatre can be intimidating, expensive and awkward, but this was something completely different and completely brilliant. It was contemporary, welcoming, inclusive and fun. i've certainly never had an evening like this before, especially with the luxury of having my dogs with me and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
For the price of £20 per ticket (inclusive of a drink and pizza) and only £2 extra to bring your pooch, with the peace of mind knowing you are supporting a small independent collective, you’d be a total fool not to give this one of kind experience a try!
It was such a pleasure to spend the evening with this gang and we cant wait to head there again with a bigger pack of dogs in tow!
Top top - limited doggy tickets available for performances throughout September and October so get your paws on them early! New locations coming soon and keep your eyes peeled for the Halloween fancy dress special!
