RugDoctor - Pet Portable Spot Cleaner
When you see the Pug Doctor and also need a rug doctor …..
Rug Doctor really hit it out the park with this one.
We were lucky enough to be sent one of their portable spot cleaners as well as some of their sprays and detergents specially formulated with pet mess in mind. Although Puggy and Pops are very well house trained, sometimes accidents happen!
This came just in time for us, as Puggy has been recovering from a pretty scary surgery on his leg to remove a cancerous lump. Puggy has been recovering well, but all the anaesthesia and pain relief has made him all out of sorts and he had a couple of little accidents indoors.
For one of the “spills” we used the Rug Doctor odor remover and urine eliminator, which worked like a dream. As dog owners, we are always paranoid about the house smelling “doggy” and I can be a little obsessive over even a slight whiff! But these sprays were super easy to use and really did the trick, leaving no scent at all and no discolouration to my beloved rug! Another great feature to mention is there is no scrubbing or blotting involved! The solution contains enzymes that work their magic without ruining your carpets or upholstery!
For best results, we read it would be more effective to use immediately before any stain had a chance to dry, we tackled it very quickly, but were also informed that the spray can be used as a pre-treatment prior to a full deep clean with the rug doctor spot cleaning machine.
Puggys recovery was going very well, until he over did it and opened his wound. It was nothing some antibiotics and an emergency vet trip couldn’t fix, but we then had the issue of a few blood stains on the carpet and our brand new sofa. Luckily we had the machine to use and when Puggy was settled, we put the Rug Doctor to work!
The machine is compact and surprisingly easy to use. Its not too heavy, easy to manoeuvre and has wheels to make things mega slick! You simply add hot water and cleaning solution (which smells gorgeous FYI), plug it in and you’re ready for action.
Power on, pre treat the stain with the dual action pet tool, leave for 5 minutes, then clean. We found it most effective to hold the dual action pet tool at a slight angle, holding down the soap trigger, then moving it slowly over the stain.
Excess solution can easily be removed by making additional movements without using the soap trigger, so your upholstery and carpets aren’t left soaking wet. It has twice the suction power of other comparable spot cleaners!
The machine is ridiculously easy to clean with and tucks away nicely in our cleaning cupboard until we might need it again. When we returned to the scene of the crime the morning after, the sofa was as good as new, with no visible stains whatsoever, and smelling divine!
The spot cleaner isn’t just for pet accidents, it can be used to tackle a number of marks and stains, which is quite handy for us as we have been known for being a little clumsy!
We have renamed our machine as the resident Pug Doctor, as it was the perfect remedy for a few little misdemeanours committed by one very poorly Pug. I just wish we knew about this product when the dogs were untrained pups, as it would have saved us a fortune in professional cleaning call outs!
Would we recommend the Rug Doctor Pet Portable Spot Cleaner? Without a shadow of a doubt, YES!
