Eco Friendly Dog and Cat Grooming tools by Mikki
Like most of us right now, we have been trying to go that little bit further for the planet, by being more eco conscious. One of the ways we are tackling this is to try to use less plastic products in our household – and that includes our three doggies too!
We were thrilled when Mikki asked to send us their new eco-friendly grooming gear and jumped at the chance! They have created a range of pet brushes for all different types of coat and the best part is they are made from 100% sustainable bamboo, which is one of the fastest growing renewable resources in the world!
Not only do these dog brushes, massagers and combs look fantastic, they are hard waring and crafted with care and precision, reducing machine dominated production which subsequently cuts emissions. It’s a win – win situation for us as we have professional grade grooming tools, whilst being kinder to our planet.
Our three dogs are a complete mix. They are all so different in terms of size, coat, skin type and character! Luckily for us Mikki have thought of everything and there is a grooming tool for all doggos great and small!
Pomegranate, our rescue Pomeranian is the one who needs the most grooming. She has a beautiful long, fluffy coat that requires a lot of maintenance. Pommie is groomed every few days to insure her undercoat isn’t forgotten about and to avoid any knots or matting. Since we rescued her last year we have tried an awful lot of grooming tools, as we have always found the process quite difficult and pretty stressful. She’s very anxious and nervous of grooming, so we took Mikki’s advice. With the gentle grooming tools by Mikki, we groomed her little and often, mimicking a stroking action which made her much more comfortable with the process. Starting with the palm held gentle bristle brush, we worked our way up to the wide tooth tangle comb and rake brushes to target the undercoat and reduce knots. Finally we use the small soft pin slicker brush which helps remove any dead hair and really makes her floof pop!!! Pomegranate has never looked better, she is extra fluffy, soft and healthy, not to mention much less anxious about her frequent grooms.
Puggy Smalls, our beautiful chunky Pug is very confident and loves groom time! Sadly, Puggy has had some health issues lately which required an MRI scan and a spinal tap. The vets had to shave patches of his fur for this, which seemed to be taking forever to grow back. Puggy’s fur is wiry and dense, and the shaved patches were a concern especially on sunny days as we didn’t want his skin to burn. Luckily, we began to use the palm held massage brush, which is super gentle and stimulating on his skin. We have been using this as a massager on his bald patches and its clear to see that after a few weeks of use, his fur is making a comeback and we couldn’t recommend it enough!
Its also great as an all over tool for pooches who moult, and to enhance a bond between pet and owner, after all - who doesn’t love an all over body massage!!!?
Last but certainly not least, we have little Pops, our rescue dachshund. Pops is very low maintenance as her fur is short and she doesn’t moult. However, her fur can sometimes look sparce and thin, so we groom her every now and then to help stimulate it and to keep her looking and feeling fabulous. Pops is a true diva and loves to sit for hours on my lap whilst being brushed, and we could recommend the small bristle brush more, for a soft, gentle brush for doggos with smooth, short coats. Pops loves the experience and it keeps her coat looking shiny and lush!
There are plenty more brushes and combs available in the Mikki bamboo collection and we cannot wait to get our paws on more as we are super impressed with the quality of these tools and very satisfied with the results, even after a few short weeks!
