Tinnitus Awareness Week
Those who know me, know I live for my pooches. My life’s mission is to be the best dog mum possible to my two pugs and three rescues, so I need to be feeling good from the inside out to help them thrive.
I wanted to write this blog as its Tinnitus awareness week, and although heaps of us suffer with this (approximately one in five people!!) it’s not talked about enough.
Tinnitus is a symptom that causes people to hear sounds that aren't there. It's often described as a ringing in the ears, but it can also sound like buzzing, roaring, or hissing.
I have an auto immune condition called Lupus, which has lots of challenges, one of which being Tinnitus. It’s a strange one as it isn’t painful, but it can literally drive me insane and I feel like I’m being haunted with a non-stop nagging, ringing sensation in my ears. I have had Tinnitus most of my life and because it wasn’t painful, I never really spoke about it, but it can really get me down, cause anxiety and effect my sleep.
My tinnitus comes and goes, but when its lurking, my dogs seem to know. They must pick up on my energy and tiredness and it really does have an impact on the whole household, which I hate.
So, I decided to do something about it, and I discovered The Tinnitus Sound therapy machine by Sound Oasis. I have been a big fan of Sound Oasis ever since I got the Pet Sound therapy machine a few months ago. It helped relive my dogs’ anxieties so much that I started digging around on the website and I was thrilled when I discovered a Tinnitus specific machine.
Sound therapy has been proven to be an effective source of tinnitus relief, especially at bedtime which is when I suffer with it the most. The noises can be deafening and really impact my sleep, in turn making me anxious and unproductive. The Sound therapy device contains a superior selection of sounds to suit all tastes and it’s recommended by audiologists worldwide.
It’s so simple to use, and it works connected to usb power or wirelessly, simply turn it on, select your preferred audio and volume and relax. The sounds create a soothing background sound that your brin can focus on, rather than the horrendous ringing and hissing sounds of tinnitus. It can used around pets, and I love how it helps them all unwind too!
The machine is tiny which makes it mega portable around the home, or on trips away, and it also allows you to stream music from your library and customise sound frequency with the free Sound Oasis App!
The sound quality is exceptionally clear, and the range of options is impressive. For me, the crickets and the running water sounds relax me the most, but it’s different for everyone!
Since using the machine, I find my symptoms have improved dramatically and I can nod off to sleep in no time. Even my husband who is not a tinnitus sufferer enjoys the sounds and we both find ourselves feeling more rested and motivated in the mornings, in turn being much better guardians to our pack of pooches!
It’s no surprise that Sound Oasis is a world leader in sound therapy systems, as every product we have tried so far has really enriched our lives and made a positive impact on the whole family!
