Aspects Holidays - Dog friendly review
We were lucky enough to escape the January blues this year to spend 5 nights of bliss at Linden Lea, courtesy of Aspects Holidays.
Aspects holidays offer a huge selection of self-catering holidays in Cornwall. Whatever your group size or budget, or if like us you only travel with you fur babies, Aspects Holidays have you covered!
We have always had a soft spot for Cornwall and visit a few times a year, so when this opportunity came up, we jumped at the chance! We love visiting Cornwall at any time of the year, but there’s something about exploring in the colder months when things are a little quieter that really appeals to us, especially with four dogs in tow, which isn’t always easy!
Linden Lea was the perfect spot. Situated off a country lane with a large driveway for multiple cars, its surrounded by woodland in the Cornish town of Wadebridge, just a short drive away from Bodmin, Camel Valley Vineyard, Padstow, Port Isaac, and Rock beach! The house was modern and immaculate with gorgeous gardens that lead to a stream – perfect for paddling in the summertime!
Linden lea is large enough to sleep up to 8 people, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a huge open plan kitchen dining space, large utility room and a cosy snug living room. We were spoilt for choice but naturally ended up in the master bedroom with its own pet (and child) safe balcony, en suite with fluffy white towels and a comfy super king-sized bed.
The contemporary kitchen was fully equipped with everything you’d want for a home from home feel. Microwave, dishwasher, toaster, smoothie maker, huge fridge-freezer and all the pots, pans, and utensils you could dream of! Aspects holidays even left us a welcome package with some local goodies for us humans and some treats and poo bags for the dogs! We were also thrilled to find tea coffee and fresh milk in the fridge – perfect after our hefty 5-hour journey from Kent!
We settled in quickly and the dogs loved sniffing around and playing in the wide-open hallway that led out to another decked balcony. This wasn’t enclosed but very easy to block off with one of the garden sofas so the pooches could play freely without any worries. There are comfy outdoor seats and a fire pit too, which would be perfect during the warmer nights to toast marshmallows!
A few steps down from the balcony is a huge garden laid to lawn, with so much space for zoomies! The dogs had hours of fun chasing each other and their toys, and we even took them down to the stream to explore which I think they will enjoy much more when it’s not so cold outside!
The house is tucked away and private, but conveniently only 5 minutes from a store with a plethora of supermarkets, pubs, and restaurants less than a ten-minute drive away.
Our first day was bliss and we spend the time relaxing and making the most of the gorgeous home and its surroundings. We have friends that live close by, so they popped over for some lunch and we headed out for a walkies with them and their beautiful Spaniel, Mabel. Before returning home for more zoomies!
The utility room with a washer and dryer was a wonderful touch, returning from walkies with four muddy dogs has never been easier! We were able to throw their coats and towels in the wash, ready for our next adventure!
We loved Linden Lea so much that we didn’t get out as much as usual. We were also unlucky with the weather, but there was something so relaxing about being toasty warm in this beautiful house, watching the storms surround us.
We did manage to pop down to Padstow and found some gorgeous local shops and despite the rain it was beautiful! We stocked up on local rum from Twin Fin and of course we had to grab some fudge from Rolys. There was a beautiful pet shop in Padstow too – perfect if you’d forgotten anything whilst exploring with your dogs! The locals are all so lovely and we were so happy to discover so many coffee stops, pubs, shops, and cafes that were all incredibly dog friendly.
From Padstow we took the ferry to rock beach and let the dogs burn off some energy before heading home for a takeaway around the huge dining room table.
The following day we decided to explore more of the local area before the rain set in. We took a little walk around and discovered the camel walking and cycle trail was just moments away! We also discovered the cutest little place to stop for a drink called Salt Bar. We warmed up by the log burner and sipped a local Cornish beer before heading to a dog friendly pizzeria called Woodies where we devoured mountains of super tasty wood fired pizzas before we headed back to snooze off our food comas on the super snuggly corner sofas!
We found Linden Lea the most perfect space to unwind and very much enjoyed watching some movies on Netflix and Disney Plus and watching the dogs play endlessly in the spacious living spaces.
Pops, our senior dachshund was particularly fond of the long radiators, and we found her often squeezed next to them in the dog bed provided! Whilst the other three dogs could be found chasing each other round and round the coffee table and doing laps of the entire downstairs through the outside doors that lead in to both the kitchen and grand hallway.
If like us you need to do some work or admin while away, the WIFI is fast at Linden Lea and there is also a very useful office space on the lower level that leads to the grass garden. This was the perfect quiet spot to take a few zoom calls and get your head down.
Although we were stuck in a gnarly storm throughout our time here, we found it completely refreshing, especially after such a manic Christmas period. It was the perfect way to spend some time together as a family and all of us, dogs included loved it here!
Our final evening was perfect. The storm had passed, and golden hour was spectacular over the garden and the stream. We picked up local fish and chips and a bottle of wine from Wadebridge, followed by endless games of fetch in the garden, before getting an early night ready for our drive home.
If you’re looking for a stylish, spacious, contemporary home from home in the heart of Cornwall, then we really couldn’t recommend Linden Lea enough!
