Vita Canis - Trail Blazing lotions and potions to improve your pooches wellbeing.
Jitka, a dog obsessed, aromatherapy mastermind has been trailblazing in dog industry for over 30 years. She has won multiple awards for dog grooming, representing England in the world championships as well as winning dog grooming salon of the year! If that’s not enough, Jitka has diplomas in canine massage and clinical aromatherapy, so when this fountain of knowledge dishes out advice for dogs wellbeing and skincare, we should all sit up and take notes!
We first discovered Vita Canis earlier this year, when our lovely 6 year old Pug, Puggy Smalls was very poorly. They were kind enough to send us a few products to help Puggy remain calm and to help him relax during his recovery. Puggy sadly experienced a vestibular crisis, resulting in an extreme head tilt, vertigo, dizziness and terrible balance issues. Naturally, it was highly distressing for Puggy, as well as our other two dogs Pops and Pomegranate who were concerned about him and picking up on the stresses from the humans in the household. Puggy was seen by specialists and endured months of tests and three surgeries. Every step of the way we used a combination of the Calming Floral Spray and the Comfort blend by Vita Canis and we haven’t looked back.
Fast forward a few months and Puggy has made a remarkable recovery, and we are so thrilled to be teaming up with Vita Canis to show off just a few of their products that make being a pooch parent much easier, resulting in happier, healthier doggos!
Vita Canis has had such an impact on our household and without a doubt, our favourite go to products are the Calming Floral Spray and the Comfort blend. Both products are multi functional and we wouldn’t be without them.

As a family, we use the Calming Floral Spray every single day. We even use it as an alternative to synthetic grooming sprays, especially with Pomegranate who has so much energy she doesn’t know what to do with it, plus it makes her floof smell heavenly!
The Comfort Blend is a unique blend of essential oils that work as a 100% natural calming remedy for dogs suffering from anxiety, distress, dog dementia and grief.
Anxieties tend to last longer than stress, so the comfort blend has been specially formulated to combat this. We can report first hand that it is indeed a miracle product. When Puggy was anxious and panicking during his illness, we would dab some on his favourite bed and toy and he would instantly become calmer and more grounded. We even put some on his blanket when he had to stay for a few nights at the vets.
We also swear by it for Pops, our nervous little rescue dachshund who is scared of the world. We rub a drop or two directly onto her chest if she’s showing signs of anxiety and it really seems to take the edge off and help her to find peace.
Comfort blend is available in 100ml or as a 10ml roll on. We actually use both, the bottle in the home and I carry a rollerball with me everywhere, just in case!
With firework season fast approaching, I couldn’t recommend Comfort Blend or the Calming Floral Spray enough! It's much better to be prepared than to let your dog face anxieties alone.
Next up we have another incredible product that i wish we discovered years ago! The incredible Skin Relief Shampoo.
It’s an absolute god send for dog owners like us who have tried everything on the market to help their doggos itchy, sensitive skin.
Little Pops has had skin troubles since I rescued her. It’s much better these days as she has a great diet and a loving home, but she’s always struggled with seasonal changes and allergies. She’s a flakey girl in winter, with itchy, dry skin that drives her insane. Summer time is usually worse, as she gets red raised bumps under her arms and chest whenever she goes outside. She suffers with allergies and when combined with hot weather, it can get very sore and irritated. We have tried everything, and I mean everything and I can honestly say that this has made a huge impact even after a few days!
Vita Canis to the rescue (yet again)! You really do have to try it to believe it, but this gentle plant based shampoo has changed Pops skin and coat in one wash! Not only does she smell absolutely delicious, but her skin is no longer flakey and she hasn’t scratched once! This is now a staple product in our doggie cupboard that I plan to whip out whenever any of the dogs gets irritated or itchy! For best results, we leave the shampoo on for up to ten minutes before rinsing, and we will repeat every few weeks to ensure they get the maximum benefit! The shampoo comes in a 250ml bottle and its jam packed with amazing natural ingredients such as Oatmeal extract, Neem oil, Red Algae, Chamomile and peppermint. The PH balanced skin relief shampoo protects your pooch, cleans and conditions the coat and leaves them shiny and instantly relieved! Vita Canis also offer a skin relief spray which works beautifully alongside the shampoo - a great product for on the go!
We were also lucky enough to try some other Vita Canis products, which should be staple essentials for all dog owners! Firstly, the ear cleaner, available in 30ml, 100ml and 250ml bottles. This is handy for all our pooches, especially Puggy. Of course he has had his ear canals removed, but we have been looking for something to keep his outer ear and his folds clean and fresh as he’s been through so much, we didn’t want anything irritating him. We also use this on the other two pooches, especially our little hound dog Pops, who sometimes gets stinky ears! You simply apply a few drops to a reusable cotton pad and wipe the outer ear. It removes any build up and leaves the ears clean and fresh which stops the dogs itching.
Obviously if your dog is showing signs of an ear infection then a visit to the vets is in order, but for general ear maintenance, wax build ups and itchiness, this is an incredible, soothing product that we wish we knew abut years ago!
Last but certainly not least is the game changing Paw Butter. This natural doggie must have has been formulated for dry paws, noses and elbows. Its silky smooth consistency glides directly onto troubled areas providing instant relief for your pooch. As most pug owners will know, dry noses are very common with the breed. We have been using this daily and its stopped Puggys nose looking cracked and crusty so he looks and feels like a new man!
We also use it after long walks on all of the dogs paws, to help keep them soft and subtle and on Pops’ dry ears. Its ultra hydrating, 100% natural, vegan and jam packed with all the goodness you’d expect from Vita Canis! Not only does it leave your pooch super soft, but it also helps cell regeneration, its antibacterial, anti inflammatory and totally safe if your dog has a cheeky lick!
