We received our Roolo last week and haven’t stopped training and playing with our pack ever since!
Our four pooches are all so different, in terms of character, likes and dislikes, size and how they play. But we found the Roolo to be a whirlwind success with the entire pack!
Our big boy, 9-year-old Puggy Smalls had the biggest question mark over his head. Although Puggy is a super smart pooch, he suffers from a spinal disease which causes severe weakness on his back legs, and he uses a doggy wheelchair most days. Since Puggy’s diagnosis a year ago, we have noticed he is less inclined to play and will no longer venture to his toy box. But ever since we whipped out the Roolo, Puggy has been far more active and engaged and desperate for playtime with his favourite new toy!
Puggy took to his Roolo from the get-go without any training, he was immediately curious and fascinated when he saw his fave dry dog treats get dropped inside. To make life a little easier for Puggy we popped him into his wheelchair which is a little clumsy and ca get in the way, but the Roolo made light work of Puggy’s challenges and for the first time in almost a year, our brave boy was able to play like old times, bopping the Roolo with his paws and nudging it with his face. We spend hours watching and cooing over him playing like a pup and living his best life and we will be forever thankful to Play-9 for putting the skip back in Puggy’s step!
The Roolo has been a gamechanger for Puggy and we love that he can play safely and uninterrupted for hours with this unpredictable, super fun and easy to clean toy.
Our little Pup YumYum and Pomegranate haven’t really been interested in treat dispensing toys in the past, so I’ll admit my expectations were low. But after 30 minutes of introducing the Roolo to them, showing them the treats popping in and gently rolling it for them, their curiosity got the better of them and they began sniffing and nudging the Roolo. They were cautious at first and a little hesitant as they have never seen anything quite like it, but after a while they understood how fun it was and that they got little treats the more they rolled it around! I find it so interesting watching them figure things out and experiment with different techniques. They also have a choice to nudge or paw the Roolo and they decide if they want to play gently or rough!
Lastly is little Pops, a notoriously grumpy old diva, who showed no interest in the Roolo at first whilst the others were playing. We took Pops to another room to spend some one-on-one time to see if she would show any interest and it worked!
Slowly but surely, she realised how much fun could be had gently bopping the toy around. She was nervous at first as it’s a huge toy for her tiny little body. She is also an anxious rescue pooch with a very troubled past, so new sounds and textures can be very alarming, but she soon started to gently lick and nudge the Roolo to win her little treats that sporadically pop out! It’s such a joy to watch her confidence increase and I’m certain she will be boofing it around the room like Puggy does in no time!
This really is the perfect toy for dogs of all shapes, sizes, and abilities. We have found it so useful on gloomy days when the weather is too rough for long walkies, the Roolo entertains and enriches our pack and it’s also a great tool for keeping them busy whilst we work from home or have zoom calls.
The Roolo is a unique shape, which I can only describe as a squishy triangular ball! It rolls and jiggles around in random patterns so our pooches don’t get bored and it's bright blue in colour, which is something they can see despite their colour-blindness! It’s also super durable and very easy to clean with a little warm water, but all the information and instructions you need will be in an easy to navigate leaflet in your delivery.
Just 15 minutes of playing with a Roolo is roughly the equivalent of an hour’s walkies, as pooches use all their instincts to play with it. The Roolo intellectually and physically challenges dogs, encouraging problem solving and scent work, frequently rewarding them each time a treat pops out!
We have loved every minute with our Roolo and highly recommend it to all doggy owners we know to keep pooches happy, healthy, and solidly bonded to their human!
